Rain: Expect more this weekend

Anibal Sanchez tossed seven shutout innings, endured a half-hour rain delay, and drove in a run to lead the Florida Marlins to a 9-0 whitewash over the Astros on Friday. Houston has now lost nine of their past ten contests at Joe Robbie Pro Player Dolphins Landshark Sunlife Stadium.

Houston threatened only twice. Once, a Tommy Manzella roller to left appeared to bring home Chris Johnson but Emilio Bonafacio gunned down Johnson at the plate. In the sixth, Jason Castro doubled but was thrown out at third on J.A. Happ's bunt. That's when the skies opened and so did the Marlins' offense.

The Fish cooked up two more runs on Happ to give them a 3-0 lead after six. Jeff Fulchino was lit for four more in the seventh and Fernando Abad was welcomed back to the majors by consecutive home runs from Cody Ross and Hector Luna in the eighth, celebrated by the few hearty fans who had sat through the whole game.

Wandy Rodriguez (9-11), who has had three straight tough-luck no-decisions, will try to get the Astros back in the win column on Saturday when he battles Chris Volstad (6-9) in a 6:10 Central contest. Rodriguez' last win was the last day of July.
