Daigle: Ends long drought

In a rare power display, the Astros subdued Pittsburgh Wednesday night with four homers on their way to a 6-3 victory. Jeff Keppinger got it started with a solo shot in the first off Daniel McCutchen. With Lance Berkman aboard in the third, Carlos Lee found the home run stroke for the second night in a row.

Berkman joined the party in the fifth with a solo shot into the front row of the Crawford Boxes to snap a 3-3 tie and Hunter Pence went deep the following inning to increase the lead. Michael Bourn singled in the seventh and eventually scampered home on a wild pitch for the final run.

Brian Moehler strained his right groin in the third and toughed out the rest of the inning before leaving. That put the bullpen into the position of having to cover six innings and Brad Mills' first choice, Gustavo Chacin, was drilled for three runs before getting an out which tied the game. Casey Daigle did better, silencing the Pirates for two innings to get his first big league win since 2004, a treat for his wife and son who were at the game.

Matt Lindstrom worked out of trouble for his 20th save of the year, stretching the Wednesday win streak to ten straight and 11 of 12.

Roy Oswalt (5-10) tries for the series sweep Thursday afternoon in a 1:05 Central contest. Ross Ohlendorf (1-6) of Austin is the third straight Texas native to start for the Pirates although the local connections haven't helped them much so far.
