Little Michael Bourn got the offense going with a second-deck home run and continued on a four-hit night as the Astros overcame an early 4-0 deficit and toppled the Brewers, 9-5, on Monday night. Hunter Pence and Pedro Feliz also had three-hit nights as Houston posted crooked numbers in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings for the comeback win.
Bud Norris, in his return off the disabled list, was slapped around by Milwaukee early, giving up four runs and nine hits in five innings, including a solo shot from Ryan Braun. Brandon Lyon fanned Braun with two on and two outs in the seventh for the key play of the night then struck out the side in the eighth for good measure. Gustavo Chacin earned his first big league win since 2007 with a scoreless sixth.
Bourn, Pence and Carlos Lee drove in two runs each and Jason Bourgeois bounced an RBI single with two outs in the seventh when the game was still in doubt.
In perhaps the oddest moment, pitcher Wandy Rodriguez pinch-hit in the ninth with Lance Berkman sitting unused on the bench. Then Berkman was inserted at first base for defensive purposes in the bottom of the inning.
The two teams resume play Tuesday night in Milwaukee with Brett Myers (5-5) taking the hill for Houston. Yovani Gallardo (7-3) will pitch for the Brewers in the 7:10 Central contest.
