Myers: Evens record

With Houston's 6-3 victory over the Giants Wednesday night, it's clear that Wednesday is the Astros' day. They've now won nine of their last ten Hump Day contests, making exactly 1/3rd of their total victories this season. Now if we could only do something about the other six days of the week.
Brett Myers allowed three runs (one earned) over seven innings for his fifth win, surrendering six hits and three walks while working around three Houston errors.
Jeff Keppinger's three-run double in the second was the key blow of the night as the Astros got contributions from young and old. Chris Johnson had two hits, including an RBI double in the sixth. Jason Castro walked and scored in the second but was otherwise held hitless.
Carlos Lee singled for the first run and Myers also drove home a run. Giants starter Barry Zito lasted just four innings against the onslaught.
There was some bad news however. Shortstop Tommy Manzella was diagnosed with a broken finger and will be out six weeks. Infielder Oswaldo Navarro was recalled from Round Rock to take his place on the roster.
The two teams conclude their season series with a 1:05 Central businessman's special. There are three reasons to douse any optimism though: Matt Cain (6-5) will be pitching for the Giants, Wandy Rodriguez (3-10) will start for the Astros and it won't take place on Wednesday.
