Paronto: Sacrificial bullpen lamb

Ronnie Belliard drilled two home runs and drove in five to lead a 10-0 massacre of the Astros Friday night that couldn't have been much worse than it was for the visitors. Roy Oswalt left after just one inning with a hip strain and the overworked bullpen was forced to pick up the slack. Chad Paronto allowed three runs and six hits in 2-1/3rd innings then Dave Borkowski followed up with seven runs allowed in two innings of work.

Ex-Astro Tim Redding was dinged for seven hits but none were able to produce a run. Steven Shell worked the last three innings for the Nationals to get his first save.

Wandy Rodriguez (3-3) gets the ball for the Saturday night contest which begins at 6:10 Central. Collin Balester (1-1) takes the mound for Washington.
