Wandy Rodriguez tossed eight innings Thursday night, allowing one run on five hits while striking out nine as the Astros gave the boot to the Texas Rangers, 7-2, deadlocking the 2008 Lone Star Series at 3-3. The Rangers actually won the Silver Boot based on total runs scored.

For the first two frames, Houston got the clutch hitting they have lacked for about a month. Hunter Pence opened the scoring with a two-out bases-loaded triple off Kevin Millwood. Newcomer David Newhan added two more in the second with a two-run double before Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee plated two more for a quick 7-0 lead. Everyone in the Houston lineup got at least one of the 15 hits, with Newhan and Berkman adding three hits each.

Interleague play wraps up this weekend with the first visit to Minute Maid Park by the Boston Red Sox. Daisuke Matsuzaka (8-1) presents a tall challenge for the Astros in the Friday night opener at 7:05 Central. AAA call-up Runelvys Hernandez (0-0) makes his first start for the Astros. The former Royal is 0-0 lifetime against Boston in two starts with a 4.85 ERA.
