Holy Moehler! Astros win!

Moehler: Blanks the Blue

Maybe more pitchers should throw on three week's rest. Brian Moehler's spot start was everything the Astros could have hoped for. The veteran long reliever tossed five shutout innings to lead a 7-1 victory over Los Angeles on Friday.

The other big star of the night was Lance Berkman who has reporters running out of adjectives. He had three hits Friday, including his 12th homer and a double, raising his batting average to .380 and his OPS above 1.200. Big Puma's not just in a zone right now. He's in another dimension.

Kaz Matsui and Miguel Tejada both had a pair of hits and Carlos Lee drove in two to help the offense. The win brings Houston within 1-1/2 games of Chicago and 2-1/2 games of St. Louis in the Central Division.

Game Two of the series is Saturday night at 9:10 Central with Chris Sampson (1-3) on the mound against Chad Billingsley (2-4).
