UPDATE 5/4/2001: Success! Craig Biggio collected his 2000th hit on Friday night, May 4, 2001 in Montreal against Javier Vazquez. Humorously, it was an infield bouncer that was momentarily bobbled by the Expos third baseman. After a few tense seconds, the scorekeeper ruled it as an infield hit. What a way to get #2000! After this, everyone will forget that #1999 was a home run.
Welcome to the Craig Biggio Hit Gallery! As you may know, Biggio is rapidly closing in on his 2000th career hit. This is a milestone that very few major-league second basemen reach, so I thought Biggio deserved some sort of tribute for this accomplishment. Of course, he started off the 2001 season in fine fashion with his first career 5-hit game!
I have tried to summarize the major hitting milestones of Biggio's career, how he has fared against pitchers, and how his performance is affected by different 'splits'. There's a lot of information here, so enjoy!
