Cardinals 94, Astros 92, Cubs 90
added 10/4/2001 by Steve Cutchen
With ten series remaining for the Astros, Cubs and Cardinals, each had five home and home series left. As these series go by, I'm comparing the results against my prediction for what would be needed for a 3-way tie at 92 wins at season's end. This Knuckleball shows the results through 9 of 10 series; Houston at Enron versus the Giants, predicted at 1-2, fell one by being swept. Houston has now lost a game to the prediction in four straight series.
The Cubs meet the prediction by taking 2 against the Reds.
The Cardinals took two from Milwaukee, beating the prediction for the third time in the last four series, and have moved to a projected Division Title.
But regardless of the advantage by the Cards at this point, the entire Division race comes down to the 3 game series at Busch stadium. Because of the tiebreakers, whoever takes 2 games at Busch will be the Division Champion.
The loser will miss the playoffs if the Giants sweep the Dodgers. Or if they get swept and the Giants take 2 of 3.
Below are the predictions and outcomes through the first 9 of the last 10 series.
That's my Knuckleball. Try to hit it.
